This bill will support California restaurants impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and rising costs associated with inflation by extending outdoor dining regulatory flexibility. As we all know the COVID-19 pandemic devastated small businesses in California, many restaurants did not survive. AB 1217 will help restaurants stay afloat by extending the provisions of AB 61, authored by Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel in 2021, and preserve current regulatory flexibility related to outdoor, patio, and al fresco dining. This measure is sponsored by the California Restaurant Association.
