How Employers Can Prepare for ICE Actions

  • Make a written response plan ahead of time and practice it with your staff.

  • Train all of your staff not to talk to ICE agents.

  • Mark private areas with a sign stating that it is a private area. ICE agents may not enter private areas without permission.

  • Review resources and speak to legal representatives to know what your rights are.

TIP:

No one can enter a private area of your business without your permission or a judicial warrant. To show that an area is private, mark them with a “Private” sign, keep the doors closed or locked, and have a policy that visitors and the public cannot enter those areas without permission.

RED CARDS

All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The ILRC’s Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home. Click here to print your own red cards, offered in 14 different languages.
